Please select your region below to obtain a current schedule of the TCI programs planned for your area.
NOTE: If you live in New York State there are two ways to apply, please check to see which one you are eligible for:
1. New York State OCFS Employees
Only employees of affiliated agencies with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) are eligible to attend the OCFS-sponsored New York State training.
2. New York State Residents who are Not OCFS Employees
If you are not an OCFS employee and you live in New York State, you may apply to attend any of the open trainings listed under "US".
FAQ: The course is full? When I last talked to someone at RCCP, it was still open so I have already made my travel and hotel arrangements.
Please do not make any kind of travel or hotel arrangements until you receive notification from RCCP that you are registered for a training course. Both TCI Train the Trainer and Update training courses fill up very quickly. You may talk to someone at RCCP one day and the training course is open, but it could be full at any moment after that. There is no way for RCCP to predict this, so we recommend that you sign up as early as possible.
FAQ: What is “full” for the TCI training? Can I talk to someone about being added as an extra person?
The full five-day TCI Train the Trainer is limited to 20 people. RCCP cannot allow more than that for both quality and safety reasons. The TCI Updates are each limited to 25 people.
FAQ: What about the one-day updates that are available? Can I take one of those one-day updates or does it have to be a two-day update?
TCI trainers can get re-certified by successfully completing a one-day TCI Update ONLY if they have successfully completed 2 two-day TCI Updates, preferably "post-crisis Response" and "Designing Refresher Training". If you have not successfully completed 2 two-day updates, you are not eligible to attend a one-day update.
FAQ: How do I choose which TCI Update to attend once I need to get re-certified? TCI trainers may successfully complete ANY of the TCI Updates to renew their certification. The RCCP has designed updates on a variety of topics such as designing refreshers, post-crisis response, conflict resolution, LSI for proactive youth, etc. Each TCI Update contains relevant information for all TCI trainers, regardless of the population they serve. The RCCP advises TCI trainers to read each of the TCI Update descriptions thoroughly in order to choose the update that is best suited to your needs.
FAQ: Why did I receive a reminder letter, I already signed up for a training?
Reminder notifications are generated automatically via the RCCP database. If you are already registered for an update, please feel free to disregard the reminder.
FAQ: What if I am registered for a TCI training of trainers, but I cannot attend?
Your agency can opt to send someone else in your place, your registration can be transferred to another available training, or a refund may be considered. No transfers or refunds are allowed if the cancellation is within 10 days of the training start date.
FAQ: Is the training I want to register for still open? If it is, can you sign me up?
We are not able to reserve space for you in any TCI training without a completed registration and payment for the proper tuition amount where applicable. Training that is not available will be marked as FULL or CLOSED on the schedule page. Training that is not available will NOT be shown in the online registration system. If you are in the online registration system and you do not see a course that was listed elsewhere, that course is full. Please remember that all of our TCI training of trainers (TxT) and Update courses are available on a first-paid, first-served basis. For those of you who are eligible for NYS OCFS sponsored training, those courses are available on a first come first served basis.
FAQ: How can I purchase materials to conduct TCI training?
Direct training materials are available ONLY to TCI trainers whose certification is valid and current. If you are a certified TCI trainer, and you need direct TCI training materials for your staff training, you may purchase:
-Participant Workbooks $15.00
-Participant Certificates $15.00 (package of 20)
If you have misplaced any of your TCI trainer materials, you may order replacements. All materials order forms are available on this web site. Again, these items are only available to TCI Trainers.
FAQ: Why was I never notified of any changes in the TCI curriculum, training schedule, or certification process?
We understand that due to changes in your own schedule, workload, and even location that you may not receive correspondence from RCCP on a regular basis. Here are some things you can do to help ensure that you are up to date on all things TCI, as well as new things the RCCP at Cornell might be doing:
1. Please read your certification letters that you receive when you have completed any TCI training. There may be changes that we are telling trainers about via their certification letters.
2. Check our website periodically. Changes to anything TCI will be on our website, as well as new projects/training that may be of interest to you.
3. Please notify RCCP with any changes in your contact information. This is very important. If your address, phone number, and/or email address changes, please let us know as soon as possible. We cannot maintain contact with you without it.
FAQ: How do I register for a TCI Training of Trainers (TxT) or Update, and when should I contact RCCP to register?
Everything you need to register for the initial TCI training of trainers, or a TCI Update is available on this web site. To register for a TCI Training of Trainers or Update, you will need to do the following:
–complete the online registration process for the appropriate class. The links can be found at http://rccp.cornell.edu/rccpv4/regcenter/reg_center-2_tci_apps.html
–provide payment via one of the following methods: credit card payment (only available via the online registration system), check, money order, or a purchase order, payable to Cornell University, for the proper tuition cost.
–RCCP cannot accept any registration or payment information via telephone. Since the registrations RCCP receives are accepted on a first-paid first-served basis, and there is limited space in each offering, and classes have been filling up very quickly, we recommend that you register and submit payment as early as possible to avoid being “shut out” of a training you would like to attend.
