Individual Crisis Management Plan (ICMP) Workshop

This one-day workshop is designed to help staff working in agencies to better understand the purpose of and the process for developing Individual Crisis Management Plans (ICMPs) and/or Crisis Safety Plans. The topics presented include ICMP goals, analysis of youth’s high-risk behavior, types of aggression (proactive/reactive), physical and medical considerations, strategies for de-escalating high-risk behaviors, trauma history considerations, use of physical restraints, and how to develop an ICMP.

Program Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • differentiate between proactive and reactive aggression and understand the appropriate intervention strategies for each
  • develop ICMPs for high-risk behaviors
  • involve direct care staff in the development and updating of ICMPs
  • develop a plan to implement ICMPs in their own agencies

Intended Audience

TCI trainers, clinical staff and social workers, nurses/medical staff, and any direct care staff involved in the development of ICMPs. Participants should have attended a TCI direct training in their agencies or a TCI Training of Trainers.
