Craig Bailey. Craig is a Recreation Therapist at Crestwood Children’s Center, an affiliate of the Hillside Family of Agencies, located in Rochester, NY. He has been working with young people in residential care since 1996, and has been with Crestwood since 2000. Craig has been the primary TCI trainer for new employees at Crestwood during this time, and currently works alongside the Learning Institute at the Hillside Family of Agencies to deliver TCI training to new employees from all of the service affiliates. He earned his professional certification in January of 2005.
Keith A. Bailey, Ph.D. Keith is an independent consultant and works with the University of Tennessee's Social Work Office of Research and Public Service training and developing curricula. He has worked with youth for almost 20 years, including two years in Scotland, and has spent 15 years working with children in residential care, foster care, and day treatment in both direct care and administrative positions. With youth in care, he has served as a basketball coach, Scoutmaster, choir director, and ropes course instructor. Keith has a B.A. in Psychology from Tennessee Wesleyan College, a M.Div. from Duke University, a M.S. in Child and Family Studies, with a concentration in Child Development, and a Ph.D. in Human Ecology, with a major in Child and Family Studies, from the University of Tennessee. He has made presentations at several local, state, regional, and national conferences. He has provided training/consultation with the Child Welfare League of America, the National Technical Assistance Center of the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors, and individual agencies in both the U.S and Canada. Wendy Brophy. Wendy works for AimHi Prince George Association for Community Living, an organization that provides a variety of services to people with developmental disabilities, children with special needs and their families. AimHi is located in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada. She began her career in Community Living in 1991 at AimHi and has worked in a variety of roles, beginning with direct care with Adults and Children in the Life Skills Program teaching daily living skills and promoting independence. After 7 years, she moved into a management position where she was responsible for 3 supported living homes, including one for children. She first attended the 5 day TCI Train-the-Trainer program in 2002 and has provided training to new and existing employees of her Association since that time.
John Dahl B.A., John Dahl works as a Program Coordinator in an intensive residential treatment program for complex needs youth at Hull Child and Family Services in Calgary, Alberta. The program serves adolescents with a developmental delay, severe social competency deficits and multiple mental health diagnoses. John has over 15 years experience in intensive residential programs and community initiatives. He has worked both front line and management positions and currently hold a position that blends both. He has taught TCI for the past seven years and was professionally certified (without physical interventions) in 2005. He is a professionally certified child and youth counselor through the Child and Youth Care Association of Alberta and has a diploma in Criminology and a BA in Sociology. He is completing his Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology with a thesis in crisis intervention training. Patricia A. Ege, MSW, M.S.Ed. Pat is the Vice President of Services at Cunningham Children's Home in Urbana, IL and oversees residential (on-site and community based), two educational, specialized foster care, and independent living programs. She has worked in human/child services for approximately 30 years, taught for the University of Illinois School of Social Work Department, and has been a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention instructor since 1998. She holds a Bachelors in Therapeutic Recreation, a Masters in Education, and a Masters in Social Work. Pat is a certified school social worker, a licensed clinical social worker, a certified sports counselor, and a registered COA peer reviewer. Her wide-range of direct, supervisory, and teaching experiences allow her to connect with all levels of staff and adapt to different program needs. As an administrator, she brings a unique perspective of how agency policies, procedures, and monitoring systems are used to evaluate and improve program services including TCI implementation. Diane Genco, M.A. Diane is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Arizona. She has over 20 years of experience in the counseling/behavioral health field. Recently she has been the Clinical Supervisor of an adolescent residential program and is now in private practice doing consultation, treatment and training. Her specialties include working with adult and adolescent sex offenders, victims and families, family therapy, crisis intervention and staff training. John Gibson, MSSc (Soc Wk), MSW (CQSW) Dip App SLT (Child Care). John is qualified in social work, in social work management and applied social learning theory. In Ireland he represents the Residential Child Care Project, Cornell University New York. He has extensive experience in delivering TCI Trainer Training, in Direct TCI Training throughout Ireland and Britain and in consulting to agencies on TCI Implementation. Queens University awarded him the Brian Rankin Prize and Medal for outstanding social work practice during his professional social work training. Diana Heard, M.A., Diana is the Director of Clinical Programming and Development for The Bradley Center, located in Pittsburgh, PA. The Bradley Center serves children and adolescents in Residential, Foster Care, and MR/DD programs. Diana has a B.Sc. in Psychology, a B.A. in Criminology and a M.A. in Organizational Management. Richard Heresniak. Richard has over twenty years of experience in the field of residential child care, working in both school and residential settings. He is a TCI Instructor and has been training TCI since 1989. He is also a certified Life Space Crisis Intervention trainer. Jack C. Holden, Ph.D. Jack is President of Mueller Holden and Associates in Ithaca, NY. Since 1986, Mr. Holden has been a full-time consultant/trainer traveling nationally and internationally to develop and deliver training programs in the human service field. Dean Kazakoff. Dean Kazakoff has worked in Community Living for 17 years and has been a TCI Instructor since 2002. He has held various positions within AimHi Prince George Association for Community Living located in Prince George, British Columbia, ranging from Skill Trainer to Acting Program Manager. Frank Kuhn, Ph.D. Frank is a clinical psychologist who lives in Charlotte, NC. He has worked in clinical and leadership positions with child welfare, educational, and treatment organizations for 25 years. Dr. Kuhn has served as medical school faculty and has provided consultation and training across the U.S. and internationally. He has co-developed training curricula including Individual Crisis Management Plans - TCI, Cornell University, 2003, and Connecting: Essential Elements of Residential Care. Oliver B. Levy. Oliver worked with at-risk youth for 15 years at The Edwin Gould Academy in New York, NY, and has been a TCI trainer since 1998. He began his career as a teaching assistant and eventually became the Director of Student Services and Staff Development. He is also trained as a Positive Peer Culture Group Leader. He currently runs his own behavior management consulting firm working with schools that service at-risk youth. Julie Libby M.S., Julie has worked in social services for over 18 years and has been a TCI instructor since 1995. She has served in many capacities at The Children’s Home Association of IL in Peoria IL. Currently, as Director of Quality Improvement, she oversees the monitoring of all programs including Utilization Review, COA accreditation, outcomes measurement, consumer satisfaction, Medicaid compliance and internal investigations. Julie has a BA in Psychology from the University of WI – Eau Claire and a MS in Psychology from Illinois State University.
William Martin M.A., William is the Assistant Executive Director of Waterford Country School, a multi-program human service agency in Southeastern Connecticut. He has been working with special needs youth since 1977 and has focused on youth with serious social, emotional, and behavioral needs. William has his Master’s degree in Human Service Administration and has been a TCI trainer since 1994. William attained his Professional Trainer certification in the Spring of 2004.
Lucinda O'Mahony, MSc. Child Protection and Welfare; Post Grad. Dip. Health Services. Management Lucinda has nearly 20 years' experience in developing and delivering services to vulnerable groups in Ireland and the UK. She worked in a variety of settings at a practitioner and managerial level. Lucinda has extensive experience in residential child care and her most recent post was manager of a regional high support unit. She also has vast experience in services providing both accommodation and outreach for homeless and out of school young people. Lucinda is a Director of Connexion Consultancy, a management consultancy organization which provides a range of training and consultancy services to the Health, Education and Justice sectors. She has been a TCI Trainer since 1999 and Professionally Certified since early 2004. Lucinda has carried out direct training and consultancy regarding policy development and implementation guidance with a number of services including: residential child care, child psychiatry, services for those with developmental disabilities, community drugs teams, youth homelessness agencies and schools. Linda Pignataro B.A., Linda began her work with children who have emotional/behavioral disabilities in 1990 as an associate special ed teacher in the Maine public school system. In 1995, after receiving a B.A. in Behavioral Science from the University of Southern Maine, she became a TCI trainer. Since that time Linda has been Lead TCI trainer for the Collaborative School, a private K-12 Day Treatment program operating under the Maine Special Education / Mental Health Collaborative (MSE/MHC) in New Gloucester, Maine. Her work at the school includes classroom behavior support, as well as staff consultation, coaching, and supervision. She also conducts parent effectiveness training sessions and leads parent support groups. In addition to training the Collaborative School staff, Linda uses her Professional Level of certification (attained in May 2003) to provide on-going TCI training to staff in local residential homes and in public schools through MSE/MHC’s Out-Reach Support Services. Carla Sockwell Morgan, M.Ed., NCC. Carla has been in the human service field for 25 years. Currently employed by The Mentor Network, she has worked in both public and private agencies as a foster care social worker, group home director, clinical coordinator, and trainer. She has worked with Cornell University since 1984 and has also presented at many state and national conferences.
Angela Stanton Greenwood, M.A., M.Ed. Angela has worked with a learning disabled population for over 20 years as a practitioner with Barnardos, and now as a training manager for the Helsey Group, England. She is a TCI and SCIP Instructor and was staff supervisor in the program that piloted TCI in England.
Patricia Stratton B. Ed. hons Durham University. Patricia is a registered social worker and Workforce Development Consultant for Sunderland Children's Services, in the North East of England. She has worked in Social Services since 1979 and has many years experience as a manager within Children's Looked After Services. In 1999 Patricia moved from her job as the manager of a remand centre to take up a workforce development role within her organisation in order to implement several new training and development initiatives. She is responsible for the design, delivery and commissioning of training for Children's residential case management and fostering services. She has lead responsibility for TCI within her agency and delivers core and refresher TCIF and TCI training to certification level 3. Michael Thomas. Having worked in the mental health field for the past 14 years, Michael is currently Training Director, Andrus Children's Center in Yonkers, NY. In 2005, Michael presented his original workshop on staff training at Cornell University's annual international TCI Conference in Dublin, Ireland. Shortly thereafter he received his professional certification from the RCCP. Michael has worked as a freelance writer for the Princeton Review's textbook publishing division and as a group facilitator for teenage group homes at St. Christopher's Group Homes in Westchester, NY and New York City. Dave Gibbs. Dave is an independent consultant and trainer in the field of young people's behaviour. Dave works with mainstream and special schools at both primary and secondary levels. Dave has had a varied career, working in two Inner London Boroughs, special schools, and an Off Site Unit for twice permanently excluded Year11 in South Bristol. He has been Head Teacher of both a day and a boarding school for pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties. He started work in his first Children's Home in 1970 and qualified as a teacher in 1977, gaining his Bachelor of Education Degree in 1978. Having spent two years teaching in the Sudan and Algeria, he returned to start work with young peple with emotional and behavioural difficulies in 1981. Dave completed his Master's degree at University College Cardiff in 1991 having researched in the field of learning and behavioural difficulties. Andrea Turnbull Andrea has 15 years experience working with young people in residential treatment settings. Her 14 year tenure at a residential psychiatric center shaped her views on working with youth in crisis as she moved among the agency in positions such as direct care worker, milieu coordinator, program director, and ultimately training director. Andrea became a TCI trainer in 2001 when her agency first began training TCI. Andrea, a licensed mental health counselor, is currently Clinical Coordinator at Carlton Manor, Inc., a non-profit agency providing therapeutic residential group home services for children in St. Petersburg, Florida.
